So we see a lot of patients who are bruxers, which means they’re grinding their teeth at night or even clenching during the day.
So usually we ask patients, hey, we usually find a clue, you know, looking in the mouth, checking them, “You have somewhere…do you clench your teeth during the day? Because if you’re doing it during the day, you’re probably doing it at night. And if you’re waking up in the morning with a lot of soreness, you’re probably grinding your teeth and you’re very stressed.”
So usually when we ask these patients, “Are you stressed out right now?” and usually the answer is yes, we recommend to have night guards or mouth guards. And this just helps them, you know, you put it in at night. It doesn’t prevent bruxism or grinding at night, but it stops it from your teeth from touching. So, you know, it helps in terms of preventing the wear of your teeth and also the soreness around your muscles when you wake up in the morning. So I think a lot more people, like I said, are very stressed. So night guards are…a lot of patients we recommend it. If you’re waking up with pain in the morning, very sore around your muscles, around your neck, you can come in and we’ll take a look and see what we can do.
